Showing Your Home

In preparing to show your home, use the same techniques that builders’ use to show their models. Make your home appear as light, cheerful and serene as possible.

To get ready for a viewing, you should:

  • Open curtains;
  • Light lamps;
  • Light your fireplace;
  • Set the dining room or kitchen table if you have particularly nice linen or china;
  • Put fresh towels in the bathroom; and then

Leave the house so your agent is free to deal with prospective buyers in a professional manner. It’s generally a good idea if you are not at home during a viewing. Your presence will inhibit a prospective buyer's movement about the house and their conversations.
